Farrer MP Sussan Ley today warned time was running out for local education providers to apply for scholarships to support international and domestic students to study in our region.

The Coalition Government is providing scholarships of up to $15,000 a year to students who choose to study at regional campuses, from semester one 2020.

“Destination Australia scholarships help attract more students to our region where they can gain a valuable education and insights into the life and culture of regional Australia”, Ms Ley said.

“Many students who spend time studying and developing friends and local contacts often stay on to live and work in the community.”

“We also want our part of NSW to share the benefits from Australia’s $37 billion international education market, which helps create jobs and business opportunities, drive tourism numbers and cultural diversity.”

Successful tertiary education providers will also be entitled to additional funding to allocate, administer and promote the scholarships to prospective international and domestic students.

Thsi a capped program with applications closing this coming Thursday, 12 September.
