NBN fast broadband has arrived in Narrandera with the first fixed line services switching on across town this month.

Just seven months after nbn trucks first arrived some 1,500 local homes and businesses can now experience the benefits of fast and reliable broadband through the fibre-to-the-node network.

They join more than 1,380 premises on Narrandera’s outskirts which are already able to connect to nbn’s fixed wireless technology. Outside this area the Sky Muster satellite service has been available to rural and remote parts of Australia since April last year.

Farrer MP Sussan Ley said “making sure regional Australia receives all the advantages of fast broadband as quickly as possible is a very important commitment from the Coalition Government”.

“The arrival of nbn fibre broadband throughout the main streets of Narrandera completes the local rollout and delivers a new digital era for this region’s* homes and businesses.”

According to nbn, switching to the new network is not automatic, so residents and business owners will need to contact a preferred retail provider to place an order for their new internet and phone services.

It is also important to note speeds experienced at premises will depend on the broadband plan purchased, as well as the equipment you use, through to the network itself. More details are available here.

“As with any new product it is best to shop around, so work out the type of broadband speeds and data you will need, then make sure your preferred telecommunications provider can deliver what you want, and at the best possible price”, Ms Ley concluded.

Information on how to connect is available at www.nbnco.com.au or call 1800 687 626.

*NB the rollout of fixed line nbn services to Leeton are due to be completed in the next month.
