Over $5m in funding has been announced for the electorate of Farrer* from the latest round of the Federal Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
Announcing the grants today (Friday), local MP Sussan Ley said project funding ranged from a brand-new preschool at Moama, several golf course upgrades and improvements, through to continued improvements at the new Wentworth Community Space and Convention Centre.
“Communities along the Murray have been among the hardest hit by COVID restrictions since early last year, and I really want this new funding to be the kick-start we need for a better, brighter 2022.”
“This BBRF round specifically looked at the impact the pandemic on my communities with applicants asked how the project will benefit to local tourism or our region’s economic recovery.”
Minister for Regional Development Barnaby Joyce said the Government had committed an additional $100 million under this latest BBRF round to support more projects, more jobs and create more economic opportunities to help our recovery from the impacts of COVID.
“Under Round 5 of the BBRF, the Government has committed almost $300 million to support 295 projects across regional Australia, which will create an estimated 9,900 jobs during the project period.”
