Regional Growth Fund – (River foreshore upgrades in Balranald, Edward River & Murray River Council areas) $7,201,285 approx.
Echuca Moama Bridge – to connect Murray Valley Hwy and Warren St Echuca with the Cobb Highway at Perricoota Rd in Moama. $97,000,000 (Australian Government contribution – total project cost estimated at $323.7m – 2022 completion).
The Murray Darling Basin Economic Development program is designed to support communities identified as most-impacted by water recovery under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. Round 2 funding of approx $450,000 each is being allocated to ‘irrigation districts’ including Berrigan-Finley, Coomealla, Deniboota, Denemein, West Berriquin, Hay, Wentworth and Hill-Boort.
Swan Hill Bridge – the Australian Government has committed $60,000,000 to replace the existing bridge with a new crossing to Murray Downs (project still in planning phase – est total project cost at $120m).
The Mobile Black Spots Program has funded 20 sites spread across Farrer over the first five rounds of the program. Guidelines for the next allocation of funding ($53m for Rd 5A) are due to be announced shortly.
Public Interest News Gathering grants have been allocated to local media outlets keeping communities in Farrer informed during the COVID-19 pandemic. These include ACE Radio (2AY, 3SH, 2QN, Edge & Mixx FM), Win TV, and Prime Television. Newspapers include the Narrandera Argus, Barham Bridge, Riverine Herald, Cobram Courier, Southern Riverina News, Deniliquin Pastoral Times, Yarrawonga Chronicle and Corowa Free Press.
