Today marks just another day of Mediscare lies from the Labor Party and Bill Shorten through their questioning during Senate Estimates.
No government has invested more into Medicare than the Turnbull Government.
We will increase Medicare funding by a further $4 billion over the next four years.
Our record Medicare funding has delivered 120 million bulk billed GP visits in the last year – 17 million more than Labor in their last full year in office.
The Turnbull Government is undertaking record investment in Medicare while also delivering the reforms GPs have long campaigned for and Labor have long ignored.
Labor Leader Bill Shorten is a Medicare fraud. Labor cut $6 billion from Medicare and Medicare when they were last in Government.
When Bill Shorten says Labor will never ‘attack’ Medicare, just look at their record for the truth.
Let’s not forget it was the Labor Party who initiated an indexation pause on the Medicare rebate for GPs when they were in Government.
A story headlined, “Doctors can afford rebate freeze, says Plibersek”, in Australian Doctor on 22 May, 2013, reported that the then Health Minister, Tanya Plibersek, had said that doctors earned enough money to bear the Federal Government’s controversial freeze on MBS rebates.
“We think bulk billing rates will stay very strong… The average doctor gets $350,000 a year in Medicare billings. It’s a fairly substantial payment.” Tanya Plibersek – May 2013 – Australian Financial Review
Labor’s only approach to health is pretending their Mediscare lies amount to positive policies.
