Federal MP Sussan Ley is stepping up pressure on Telstra in a bid to strengthen mobile phone coverage around the community of Jindera, near Albury.

After members of the local community rallied at Jindera’s Recreation Reserve in late August, Telstra provided the following statement…

“We know better coverage is important to the community and we’re working to deliver that to them as quickly as possible.”

“Telstra’s idea of quick, is not soon enough”, Ms Ley said.

“Repeated requests for a timeline on moving their 4G/5G technology to the Recreation Reserve have been ignored.

“I am now widening our efforts with a petition of impacted local residents, businesses and workers, in the hope the telco giant might actually get the message.

“If you live or work in the Jindera, Glenellen, Ettamogah & Bungowannah area and want better mobile coverage, please spread the word and sign my e-petition.

“To attract people to regional areas you need good health facilities, you need quality education options, BUT you also need an ability to communicate.

“This means reliable mobile service and internet speeds all of the time

“Right now, Telstra is letting this community and their customers down. I urge them to hear our voice!”
