An elected Dutton Liberal Government has committed to deliver upgrades to the Corowa and District SHE Shed – a local haven for women to learn, create, and connect.
First established in 2017 by utilising a generous local’s garage, the SHE Shed opened its doors to a permanent home in Corowa’s western industrial area in 2023 and now hopes to add a mezzanine floor to its facility.
Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Federal Member for Farrer, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, said a $14,000 commitment will cover the majority of an estimated $18,000 project.
SHE Shed President, Barbara Farrar, said a growing membership and recent equipment purchases from donations has meant the SHE Shed needs more space and storage capacity.
“This commitment will provide our 50 members with more workspace and also allows for the installation of improved lighting and to fully enclose our tool room,” Ms Farrar said.
“I’ve seen first-hand the immense value of a space where women can come together, learn new skills, share stories and experiences, all of which strengthen the Corowa and District community.” Ms Ley added.
Among the top priorities of a Dutton Liberal Government is to Grow a stronger Regional Australia.
