An elected Dutton Liberal Government has committed to deliver a major funding boost to update lighting at the Leeton’s Showgrounds, home to the Leeton Harness Racing Club, Crows Football & Netball Club and local Show Society.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Federal Member for Farrer, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, said
a Coalition Government will pledge over $1,000,000 to upgrade the facility to a full LED lighting system.

“Harness racing is a big drawcard in Leeton, not just for the races but an event for all the family with miniature ponies, a jumping castle, face-painting and, of course, the famous Lions train.

“This commitment will also benefit the annual show crowd as well as training and game days for the footy and netball sides – it’s an all-round win as far as I can see, Ms Ley said

Leeton Harness Racing President Joanne Punch said the new lights would enhance safety at the venue, ensuring the track and surrounding areas for are well-lit for spectators, drivers and trainers.

“This upgrade will also provide better visibility for judges, allow extended event hours and – most importantly – cut the Club’s energy cost through energy efficient lighting, aligning with our commitment to responsible resource management” Ms Punch said.
